Newcastle is one of the UK’s leading universities with an international reputation for excellence. The main campus is located in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, one of the UK’s most vibrant and exciting cities, famous for its friendly locals and fun-loving character. With a low cost of living and consistently strong graduate employability record, Newcastle is the university of choice for over 6,000 international students from more than 150 different countries.

Known for their warm Geordie welcome, Newcastle is one of those rare places where you instantly feel at home. A big city in a small space, offering all the excitement of a modern metropolis combined with small-town friendliness. Consistently voted one of the best student cities in the UK, Newcastle attracts over 50,000 students each year. In fact, one in six people in Newcastle is a student, helping create the city's energetic social scene and legendary nightlife. Newcastle also has world-class arts, music, shopping, and sport right in the city centre and is just 25 minutes' from beautiful beaches via the underground Metro system.

Newcastle University has a long history of teaching dating back to 1834 and is a Russell Group university. Their reputation for academic excellence, high graduate employability, and an amazing student experience attracts students from all over the globe.

Getting to Newcastle is easy, whether you fly into Newcastle International Airport or take a train to Central Station. You are less than 3 hours by train from London and 90 minutes from Edinburgh.

Affordable

With lower-than-average student rents, you’ll have more money left in your pocket to spend on the things you love. Food and drink prices are refreshingly low in Newcastle, so it won’t break the bank to enjoy an evening out, and there are plenty of shops specialising in affordable fare to help you look after your pennies.

Supporting you

Whatever your support needs, help is on hand. Newcastle is proud to offer a range of support services - before you apply and once you arrive - to give you the confidence and support you need to reach your full potential.

Throughout your studies you’ll have a Personal Tutor (an academic member of staff from your course of study) who will be there to help and guide you for the duration of your degree. Newcastle also has Student Peer Mentors who help you to set your expectations about your studies and help you settle into your course in the first semester. In addition, there are the friendly staff based in the dedicated Student Services building, Kings Gate.
