I studied for my undergraduate degree in Minnesota USA, took a year to work, then moved to Wales.
I studied abroad at Swansea University for a semester during my undergrad because it had a module I was really interested in and loved the school and Psychology program, so I decided to come back.
It is a year-long course, September to September, with two semesters of modules and a summer of a dissertation. I had eleven modules, a placement at Morriston Hospital, and a research dissertation with a well-known professor in an area I’m very interested in.
Definitely the placement. It is invaluable experience in the field I’m interested in which not only allows me to develop my clinical identity but also increases my employability and future prospects of working in the field.
I would like to work as an assistant psychologist for a year before applying for a clinical doctorate program.
Absolutely. The Psychology staff is fantastic, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. They will help wherever they can. The modules are interesting and the opportunity to get a placement and work with renowned research professors is invaluable.
