WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOU STARTED WORKING FOR ACROSS THE POND?

After finishing up my Masters in the UK, I came back to North Carolina and instantly missed the university atmosphere. There’s nothing quite like the buzz of a uni campus! I took a job in administration at my undergraduate alma mater until I was lucky enough to return to the one place I missed more than university… the UK! Eventually I ended up in North East England working in postgraduate admissions at Newcastle University, which was a perfect blend of my passions. When my family started grow, I moved back to America and contacted Across the Pond in hopes of continuing my career in UK higher education.
 

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO STUDY IN THE UK?

I did a study abroad semester in London during undergrad and found myself challenged, motivated and excited in such a new capacity. After graduating I knew returning to the UK to complete a Master’s degree would offer an education both in and out of the classroom that was unparalleled. King’s College London even exceeded my expectations and remains to this day the best decision I ever made…second only to marrying the man I met during my time there!
 

WHY DO YOU LIKE WORKING FOR ACROSS THE POND?

While working on the Newcastle admissions team, I saw first-hand how daunting the admission and registration process could be for international students. Across the Pond offers personalized information and clarity for applicants, which in turn often leads to a more efficient and streamlined process for the university admissions team. I feel honoured to now have the chance to connect motivated students with world class universities and help make the process a positive experience for everyone.
 

WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE FROM THE US SHOULD STUDY IN THE UK? 

In one year studying in the UK, I learned more about both myself and my academic field than I did in all four years of undergrad in the US. The confidence and knowledge students gain from completing a degree abroad is invaluable both professionally and personally.
